Re-Christening of MADAKET
By Father Micheal Cloney 2:00 p.m.
MADAKET will be blessed by Father Micheal Cloney and re-christened.
The ceremony of christening ships began in the distant past, and we know that Romans, Greeks, and
Egyptians all held ceremonies to ask the gods to protect sailors. A proper christening and the accompanying
ceremony ensures good fortune to the lady and her crew throughout the life of the vessel.
Parade/Escort Cruise 11:45am - 12:45 pm
Ride aboard MADAKET as she is festooned and escorted by the Humboldt Yacht
Club, Kyaker's, United States Coast Guard, Humboldt Co. Sheriff, Fishing boats and
many others who wish to join in. You can view the parade along Eureka's waterfront
from the Wharfinger buuilding to the Adorni Center If you would like to enter your
vessel, the parade begins at 11:45 off of Del Norte Street Piers.
